How To Serve Guide (7 Simple Steps):
A French Press or similar equipment is recommended. No equipment? See our Traditional European Brewing Guide below.
You’ll need: Riviera Roast Coffee, French press, kettle, spoon, timer, water.
1) Measure
- Use 1 tbsp (7–8g) per 120ml water (Easy rule: 30g coffee to 500ml water)
2) Heat the water
- Bring water to the boil, then let it sit 30–60 seconds - Aim for just off-boil.
3) Add coffee
- Put the ground coffee into the empty French press.
4) Bloom
- Pour in just enough water to fully wet the grounds.
- Stir once, then wait 30 seconds.
5) Fill & steep
- Pour the remaining water in.
- Put the lid on (plunger up).
- Steep for 4 minutes.
6) Plunge
- Press down slowly and steadily (no need to wrestle it).
7) Serve immediately
- Pour it all out into mugs (or another jug).
- Don’t leave it sitting in the press or it keeps brewing and gets bitter.
Traditional European Brewing Guide (5 Simple Steps):
You’ll need: Riviera Roast Coffee, kettle, water, spoon, timer, water.
1) Add coffee
Place 2 teaspoons of finely ground coffee into your mug.
2) Pour water
Add hot water just off the boil.
3) Stir
Mix gently to fully saturate the grounds.
4) Rest
Let brew for 4 minutes. The grounds will settle to the bottom.
5) Sip
Drink slowly. Stop before the natural fine coffee grounds layer.
Note: This is a traditional European brewing method. Rustic and intentional. Fine coffee grounds settle naturally at the bottom.
